First Picture of me on tour.
1/10
For this show, I started as the swing tech. I took on the role of Head Pusher during load-in and load-out, managing the flow of equipment by dumping trucks and organizing the deck. As the run went on, I learned everyone’s tracks so I could cover for them when needed, becoming a reliable and flexible member of the team.
In Portland, Oregon, the local crew wasn’t able to fly the Wendy actor, and after four replacements, my Head Carpenter trusted me to fly her for the rest of the weekend. Here’s a video of me flying Wendy—an experience that pushed me to step up and proved my reliability on the team.
Due to the show having flying actors, the Projector needed to be hung on a batten between the first electric. I hung my PTZ camera off the projector so I could easily see what the lens is outputting.
After hanging the projector each day, we would check the focus points to verify they line up with the different positions on the wall.
Using the D3 software, I go through the cue stack, finding the different projector cues to watch them before opening the house.
After all that, we have Peter's Shadow bouncing around the darling bedroom.
Due to the racks being two single racks, I had to rebuild and connect them every week.
When building the Video Wall, it's important to have the power on and wall cues going so that you know where you made a mistake in building it, or maybe you should replace some panels.
Sometimes the wall doesn't want to output or isn't responding correctly, and I have to use my test monitor to see what's wrong.
Just me watching UT Football on the Video wall.
Giving Back Where It All Began
I was raised to believe that giving is a cornerstone of living a meaningful life. Before I graduated from College Park High School, I made it my mission to leave behind a legacy that would inspire those who came after me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people who shaped me—especially my high school director, Valarie Labonski.
Every chance I get, I reach back to support the next generation of artists. When Peter Pan came through the Houston Hobby Center, I had the opportunity to sponsor seven students, Mrs. Labonski, and Mr. Beineman to attend the show. I greeted them in the lobby with gift bags filled with Peter Pan memorabilia and items showcasing technical aspects of the production.
After the show, I brought them backstage for an exclusive tour, showing them what life is like behind the scenes—from the scenery to the crew’s responsibilities on the road. I spent about 30 minutes answering their questions, sharing stories, and explaining how school—and Mrs. Labonski’s unwavering support—helped shape my journey.
To me, giving back isn’t optional—it’s essential. You never know who you might inspire just by showing up
